Boston Celtics forward Xavier Tillman is still getting used to his role with his new club. The Michigan native was traded to Boston in February at the 2024 NBA trade deadline, and has slowly begun to find a rhythm. Switching teams doesn’t just mean swapping jerseys, after all, but also means adjusting to a brand-new system and new city.
Tillman has already begun to grow roots as a member of the Celtics, however. He has had a few important stints off the bench with Boston, and is getting acclimated to the area, too. Tillman spoke about his experience getting integrated with the Celtics at a recent event unveiling a renovated court at the The Salvation Army Boston South End Corps Community Center. Tillman also explained that his life off the court is starting to feel more normal as he learns more about Boston and settles in.
“It’s going good,” Tillman said of the transition. “I finally moved out of a hotel. I was in a hotel for about a week, trying to find a spot here.”
