The Eagles had their fair share of incredible games this year, but our pick for this season’s game of the year was Women’s Lacrosse’s NCAA Championship Game, which was nominated alongside the Men’s Hockey East Championship.
A thrilling game from start to finish, the Eagles captured their second national title in four years against Northwestern, the team that defeated them in the 2023 title game.
After going down 6-0 in the first quarter, the Eagles began their comeback. Emma LoPinto got things started with a stunning behind-the-back goal. Kayla Martello scored four goals in the second quarter and Andrea Reynolds added another, and the Eagles went into halftime only down two goals. Ryan Smith, LoPinto, and McKenna Davis got the Eagles within one going into the fourth period.
Although Northwestern scored at the beginning of the last period, Rachel Clark scored two to tie the game at 11, and Reynolds scored again two minutes later to give the Eagles a lead they wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the afternoon. With a one goal lead and 28 seconds left on the clock, Shea Dolce made the save that Boston College fans and lacrosse fans will remember forever — and the Eagles left North Carolina as National Champions.
