Name: Teddy Stiga
Position: Forward
Height: 5’10”
Hometown: Sudbury, MA
Current Team: USNTDP
Draft Projection: Stiga’s stock has risen after working hard to improve his stats this season, and is projected to be a second round draft pick. Most projections have him going somewhere in the 40s, which would put him in the early to mid second round range. His highest projection is from Elite Prospects, which has him going in the late first round. TSN’s Bob McKenzie is responsible for Stiga’s lowest rank, putting him as an early third round pick.
Prospect Preview: Stiga is known for his hockey sense and ability to be exactly where he needs to be on the ice at any giving time. He’s an offensive powerhouse who was third on the U18 Team in points this season with 79 points in 61 games and second on the USNTDP Juniors team with 38 points in 27 games (both behind leader James Hagens, who is also set to attend BC in the fall). Stiga was also a bright spot for Team USA in the U18 WJC, scoring 6 goals and recording 5 assists over 7 tournament games.
While he is on the smaller side, Stiga is known for his hard work and should benefit from the consistent strength and conditioning program at BC. His ability to contribute on offense and defense, as well as on both the penalty kill and the power play, makes him a valuable prospect.
Stiga started the year as a borderline pick, and has risen all the way up to early round projections based on his play this season, so how well he is able to impress teams in meetings during the Combine could also see him rising in the rankings.
