These Eagles are in it for the long haul
On Monday afternoon, USCHO released their weekly national poll for men’s DI college hockey, and the Boston College Eagles found themselves back in the #1 spot after a few weeks of bouncing around the top 5. BC had a terrific weekend, soundly defeating a couple of tough opponents in Notre Dame (6-1 final score) and Harvard (4-1 final score). These big victories were enough to convince voters that BC belongs near the top of the list. The Eagles overtook the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, who actually received more first-place votes than BC, but may have been punished by some voters for going to overtime against Bemidji State on Friday.
Looking around Hockey East, there is no shortage of talent. Boston University (#4), Providence (#9), and now UMass Amherst (#10) find themselves in the top-10 as well, with Maine (#11) and New Hampshire (#15) not too far behind. BU especially has found their footing after a rocky start, winning five games in a row until falling to #16 Cornell on Saturday. BC will face Providence on December 9th, and then January will have a stretch of important games against PC again and BU, capped off with the Beanpot semifinal against the Terriers on February 5th. But first they will have a home-and-home with Northeastern this weekend. Be sure to check back with BCI as we preview that match-up and everything else coming down the pipe for this promising young hockey team.
