The Red Bandanna game is an annual tradition where the Boston College community dons a red paisley bandanna to honor Welles Crowther, a BC alum who gave his life to usher people to safety on September 11th, 2001. His actions on that day are one of the greatest exemplifications of BC’s motto, “Men and women for others.” You can learn more about Welles’s heroism by watching the full documentary on YouTube or reading more online.
This is a fantastic time-slot for a game that will have as much juice as this one. Boston College football got into the top-25 rankings this week after winning a big game against FSU down in Tallahassee, followed by their home opener win over Duquesne. They still have to play SEC power #6 Mizzou next week before they face-off against MSU, though. But either way, excitement is sure to be high as Bill O’Brien has brought a new era to the BC football program. The team looks great and has more buzz around it than it has in years. So a nighttime kickoff for one of the most hype atmospheres all year, against a premier Big Ten opponent? It’s all coming together for an unforgettable game.
