The Eagles and the Cougars have only met three times before
On Wednesday, Brigham Young University Athletics announced future opponents for their football team, which included a home-and-home with the Boston College Eagles. The Eagles will travel to Provo, UT in 2028, then the Cougars will make the return trip to Chestnut Hill in 2029. You can read the full BYU press release here.
BYU is a well-respected P4 football opponent, who recently joined the Big 12 after years of independence. The Cougars have played in 17 bowl games in the past 19 seasons, going 10-9 under two total head coaches. They’ve had remarkable consistency in the middle-upper tier of the old “G5” for the past two decades, and are now sitting at 4-0 as they start out their second season in the Big 12.
Boston College and BYU have met three times in their history: 1985, 2005, and 2006. Boston College won the two games in the 2000s, while BYU was victorious in the 1985 match-up, which was played in East Rutherford, NJ. We don’t really know what trajectory these programs will be on in four years, but things seem to be going pretty well for both of them at the moment, so here’s hoping to a great set of games!
