Late on Friday night, Boston College cornerback Elijah Jones was selected 90th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Jones was a key piece of the BC defensive backfield last season, and his absence in the last few games of the regular season really showed as the Eagles lost three straight games.
Jones was one of the few NFL defensive prospects developed by Jeff Hafley’s staff and was really holding together a secondary that was filled with mostly young and inexperienced talent last season. His 5 INTs led the ACC in 2023 and he made several outstanding plays that clearly drew the interest of NFL scouts.
The Cardinals are in a rebuilding phase under a new head coach, so Jones has the chance to be a young and emerging leader for the defense in Arizona. Plus, he’ll be getting plenty of reps against Marvin Harrison Jr. in practice.
Good luck, Elijah!
