This Saturday is the most excited I’ve been for a BC Football game in a very long time. While we wait for the opening kickoff at 12:45 ET, below is a Q&A with Sammy Stava from Rock M Nation. Thanks again, Sammy.
BCI: Are Missouri fans a little bummed Gameday didn’t decide to come to Columbia?
Mizzou: I think Missouri fans are a little disappointed about not getting the College Gameday game, as am I. It’s deserving of a Gameday spot since it’s the only ranked matchup of the day and Mizzou hasn’t hosted a Gameday since 2010 vs Oklahoma. Though, maybe Columbia will get College Gameday later this season in they continue their winning ways.
BCI: With such a great season last year, and a great start to this year, the campus must be buzzing. What are Tigers’ fans expectations for this season?
Mizzou: With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12-teams, it’s fair to say that the reasonable expectations among the fanbase is to make the CFP this year. Mizzou returns a lot of offensive production from last year along with a manageable schedule to work with in the SEC. That’s a good mix to have for a team that has playoff hopes.
BCI: Do you think the addition of Drew Pyne will help push Brady Cook to have an even better season this year?
Mizzou: Drew Pyne was always going to be the backup QB entering this season. Unless something drastic happens, Brady Cook is the starting quarterback and this team’s leader. However, Pyne does have the experience coming from Notre Dame and Arizona State, so it can be fair to say that Cook has some extra motivation with the transfer addition of Pyne.
BCI: Boston College has some serious momentum under Bill O’Brien. Are Missouri fans nervous?
Mizzou: If Mizzou fans aren’t nervous, they should be. This is their first true test of the season and Boston College’s win over Florida State should get their attention — no matter how down FSU is this year.
BCI: With this being Missouri’s first true test of the year, what is your prediction for Saturday?
Mizzou: Bill O’Brien’s gameplan and the quarterback play of Thomas Castellanos are both going to give Mizzou fits in this one. This isn’t going to be easy. However, I think Mizzou is the more proven, experienced, and talented team. Eli Drinkwitz is in his fifth season and it’s a game at home. BC covers but Mizzou pulls away late to win 31-20.
Sammy is a nice guy, but I politely disagree with his score prediction. I think we score first and run the ball down their throat the rest of the game. BC wins the ball game in a close one: 31-30
