There was one media member so confident in the Eagles that they gave them a first-place vote, though they seem to be in quite the minority. Although BC did finish above the very worst teams of the conference like Virginia and Stanford, the conference media in general is not expecting much from them this season.
It makes sense that expectations would be low in Bill O’Brien’s first season at the helm, though. BC’s roster, and especially its defense, was left in a difficult place by the previous staff. Teams were scoring at-will against the BC defense in the red zone last season and there aren’t any significant additions that would suggest a dramatic turnaround. BC could definitely see a major improvement on offense, however, with BOB’s expertise and a full offseason to actually prepare Thomas Castellanos to be QB1.
