On Friday afternoon, Boston College freshman goaltender Jacob Fowler was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List. The Richter Award is given annually to honor the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA men’s hockey.

Fowler has had a great freshman season so far, ranking #5 in the nation in Save% and #11 in the nation in Goals Against Average, and even earning a shutout against UConn. He took his expectations and has blown them out of the water, proving himself to be a capable NCAA goaltender immediately upon arrival to the league. BC is in capable hands for the foreseeable future after a couple years of relying on grad transfers in net following the departure of Spencer Knight. With a #1 media ranking and good position in the Pairwise, Boston College will need Fowler to perform well for what could potentially be a deep playoff run.
The Richter Award watch list will be narrowed down to about 10-15 semifinalists over the next several weeks, before eventually being narrowed to 3 finalists and 1 winner.
