Name: Roger McFarlane
Position: Guard
Year: Graduate Student
Number: 3
Height: 6’ 4”
Hometown/Previous School: Fort Lauderdale, Fla./ Southeastern Louisiana
Last Season: McFarlane is a graduate transfer from Southeastern Louisiana with one year of eligibility left. He averaged close to 15 points per game and 9 rebounds last season, and finished the year second in the conference in rebounds per game. McFarlane registered 10 double-doubles last season and scored 10 points or more in 27 of their 32 games. He also showed he can perform against the power 5, scoring a season-high 24 points at Auburn.
Season Outlook: With the top 5 scorers from last season gone, Earl Grant will need McFarlane to score at a high level for Boston College to be competitive. McFarlane has shown an ability to shoot the 3 well, shooting over 40% from 3 last season with 58 makes, and rebound the basketball at a high level, especially for a guard. With over 1,000 points already in his college career, McFarlane should add some experience to a very young Eagles’ team. Grant will look to McFarlane to be a leader on the offensive end and help fill the scoring gap that was left from last year.
