Boston College earned their first ACC win in their last game against Miami. Grant and the Eagles executed the largest home comeback in BC basketball history. Hopefully, the Eagles don’t have to play from behind tomorrow against the Yellow Jackets.
Who: Boston College Eagles (9-5) vs. Georgia Tech (7-7)
Where: McCamish Pavilion, Atlanta, GA
When: Saturday, January 4th, 2025
Tip-off Time: 12 PM EST
How to Watch: This game will be available to watch on ESPNU.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are 7-7 overall, 1-2 in ACC play. Their lone conference win came against Notre Dame at home on New Year’s Eve. Georgia Tech doesn’t have any notable wins to start the year, but they have lost a few games to good teams including at No. 12 ranked Oklahoma, at a neutral site against Northwestern, at home against Duke, and a 3 point loss to UNC at the Dean Dome.
The Yellow Jackets have 3 players averaging 11 or more points on the year. Their leading scorer is Lance Terry averaging just over 15 points per game. Terry is an Atlanta area product who played his first 3 years of college basketball at Gardner-Webb. At Gardner-Webb, Terry led the Bulldogs in scoring in the 2021-2022 season before transferring to Georgia Tech for the 2022-2023 season. He was the second leading scorer in his first year at Georgia Tech averaging just over 10 points per game. But, he suffered a season ending injury before the 2023 season, which left him one final year of eligibility. Terry is accompanied by Javian McCollum and Baye Ndongo. McCollum has spent some time on the sideline this year due to concussion protocol, but he is coming off a season-high 21 point performance in the Yellow Jackets’ win against Notre Dame. McCollum is averaging about 12 points per. Ndongo is a 6’ 9 Sophomore from Senegal and is Tech’s most prolific interior threat. In addition to averaging 12.6 points, he averages 7 boards and just shy of 1 block per game. Duncan Powell is also worth noting as he notched his career high against Notre Dame matching McCollum’s 21 points. Powell is a transfer from Sacramento State looking to find his role on the team. Powell only averages 7.8 a game and has come off the bench in 13 of the Jackets’ 14 games.
Georgia Tech has not had a great start to the year, but they can pose as a dangerous team for the Eagles. The Yellow Jackets have some good players and have played a tough schedule, so far. If Boston College can play as well as they did in the second half against Miami, they should be just fine. Let’s hope the Eagles can go down to Atlanta tomorrow and earn their second conference win to get them to .500 in league play.
