The Boston College men’s hockey defeated Bentley for the first time this afternoon, beating the Falcons 3-1 to move on in the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after James Hagens set up a great play to allow Gabe Perreault to score the first goal of the game.
The Falcons tied things up with a power play goal in the second period, and it stayed 1-1 for most of the rest of the game, thanks in no small part to extremely poor ice conditions and nets that kept coming off their posts.
Both teams kept the pressure on, and BC ultimately scored with just over a minute to go in the game with James Hagens being the hero. Bentley then pulled the goalie, and Ryan Leonard scored on the empty net for a 3-1 final score.
The Eagles will face the winner of Providence vs. Denver on Sunday.
