Name: James Hagens
Position: Forward
Year: Freshman
Number: 10
Height: 5-11
Hometown: Hauppauge, NY
Drafted: Projected to go 1st overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft
Prior to BC: Hagens comes to BC from the USNTDP, recording 102 points in 58 NTDP games and 47 points in 26 USHL games last season. He broke former Eagle Colin White’s record with 21 points at the 2022 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, and in 2024 scored 22 points to break the IIHF World U18 Championship scoring record. He was the youngest player invited to the 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships training camp, and was one of the final players to be cut from that roster.
Season Outlook: Not to put too much pressure on a freshman, but Hagens will likely play a huge role in replacing the scoring that BC lost with the departures of Cutter Gauthier and Will Smith. He is expected to take Smith’s spot on the Ryan Leonard/Gabe Perreault line, which will be BC’s first line. Fans should also expect to see him getting plenty of special teams minutes. Hagens will be a one-and-done player, so enjoy watching him play for BC while you can!
Fun Fact: James and his brother Michael will both be freshmen this year, and have adjacent numbers – 10 and 11.
