Name: Michael Hagens
Position: Defenseman
Year: Freshman
Number: 11
Height: 5-11
Hometown: Hauppauge, NY
Drafted: Prior to BC: Michael Hagens has spent the last two seasons as a member of the Chicago Steel in the USHL, where he put up 58 points in 119 regular season games. He originally committed to Harvard back in 2021, but later switched to Boston College so he could play with his younger brother, James.
Season Outlook: Hagens will be an important part of BC’s defensive core right from the start, as the Eagles will need to replace Charlie Leddy and Jacob Bengtsson from last year’s blue line. Hagens is reportedly a strong skater with some decent puck skills, so even if he starts out playing some third pairing minutes, there is certainly the chance that he impresses enough to move up the lineup during the season.
Fun Fact: Michael and his brother James announced their commitment to BC together through an Instagram post
