Name: Jan Korec
Position: Goalie
Year: Sophomore
Number: 30
Height: 6-1
Hometown: Bratislava, Slovakia
Last Season: Korec spent his freshman season at Boston College primarily serving as Jacob Fowler’s backup in net. He got into four games over the course of the season, including starts against Harvard and Merrimack in which he recorded a win. He put up a shutout against Harvard in his first collegiate start and stopped 45 of the 49 shots that he faced during the season, good for a .918 save percentage in his limited action.
Season Outlook: Korec will likely find himself in a similar role to last year, where he will mostly be serving as Fowler’s backup and getting a spot start here and there to keep BC’s starter fresh as the season goes on. He looked like a solid enough goalie from what little we saw last year, but if he sees any extended action, it will almost certainly be a result of Fowler being injured and unable to play
Fun Fact: Korec has represented Slovakia ten times in international play for the country’s U18 and U20 teams
