Name: Ryan Leonard
Position: Forward
Year: Sophomore
Number: 9
Height: 6-0
Hometown: Amherst, MA
Last Season: Leonard was, simply put, one of the best players on the ice last year. His 60 points was good for third on the team in scoring, and his 31 goals broke the program record for goals scored by a freshman. Leonard was voted most outstanding player at the Providence regional after scoring five points over the course of two games.
Season Outlook: With the departures of Cutter Gauthier and Will Smith, Leonard will almost definitely be one of the players stepping up offensively as a member of the top line. He will likely put up even bigger numbers this season, playing alongside linemate Gabe Perreault and most likely incoming freshman superstar James Hagens. After turning down an NHL contract from the Washington Capitals, Leonard was named one of the assistant captains this year, and has unfinished business with the Eagles.
Fun Fact: Leonard’s older brother John played for UMass.
