The Boston College men’s hockey team earned redemption tonight with a 4-1 victory over Merrimack in North Andover. The Eagles played with much better energy and consistency than they had last night, and were able to easily handle the Warriors.
Neither team was able to score in the first period, although the Eagles outshot Merrimack, and the teams went into intermission tied at 0.
BC went on the power play just about 5 minutes into the second period, and Ryan Leonard broke through to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. BC then went up 2-0 thanks to Jake Sondreal’s first goal as an Eagle, and then Brady Berard scored his second of the weekend to make it 3-0 Eags.
BC took the 3-0 lead into the third period, but the Warriors were able to make it 3-1 after Sondreal was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct. With about three and a half minutes to go Merrimack pulled the goalie in an attempt to stage a comeback, but an empty net goal from Teddy Stiga put a stop to that and gave BC the 4-1 win.
