Boston College men’s defeated UConn in overtime today, playing a tough game to come away with a 2-1 win.
The Eagles scored first, taking a 1-0 lead early in the first period when Teddy Stiga took a great bounce for a goal. BC took that 1-0 lead into intermission, but then started to struggle a bit and UConn tied the game with a shorthanded goal in the second period.
Neither team was able to score in the remainder of regulation, despite UConn getting a big power play thanks to Drew Fortescue getting kicked out of the game. The teams ended the third period knotted up at 1, and went into overtime.
Midway through the OT period, another BC freshman scored, with James Hagens earning the Eags a victory.
