The Boston College men’s hockey team had their confidence and energy back tonight, as they defeated UMass 4-1.
Just 4 and a half minutes into the game Eamon Powell gave BC a 1-0 lead, and it was all Eagles the rest of the period with BC outshooting the Minutemen 20-3.
Andre Gasseau made it 2-0 early in the second period, and then Ryan Leonard make a terrific pass to set James Hagens up to make it 3-0 Eags.
UMass did manage to score later in the second period, despite the BC players feeling very strongly that the goal should have been waved off, and BC to a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
UMass kept their foot on the gas for the rest of the game, but BC continued to shut them down. UMass pulled the goalie with 4 minutes to go in the game, and the game ended in the funniest way possible as hometown boy Leonard took a shot from way down the ice that was helped into the net by a UMass player, giving BC a 4-1 victory. BC outshot UMass 45-22 in the win.
