The Boston College men’s hockey team earned a comeback win at Vermont tonight, defeating the Catamounts 6-3.
The Eagles had a tough first period, not managing many shots on goal and allowing a pair of power play goals. UVM scored first, only for Will Skahan to tie it up off an assist from Dean Letourneau. UVM then took back the lead with another power play goal to end the period up 2-1. The Eagles also ended the period without Gabe Perreault, who was kicked out of the game after a cross check.
The Eags took over for the rest of the game however, starting off with a play from Teddy Stiga that set up Eamon Powell to tie the game back up. Then UVM had a player ejected for slewfooting, and BC put tons of pressure on the Catamounts. Ryan Leonard used that energy to give the Eagles their first lead of the game, and then James Hagens scored a great goal to make it 4-2 BC.
The Catamounts got one back to cut BC’s lead to 4-3, and the second period ended at 4-3 Eagles.
BC held UVM scoreless for the rest of the game, and the Eagles picked up 2 more goals. First, Michael Hagen took a fantastic shot for his first goal as an Eagle, and then as the game wound down Andre Gasseau scored a shorthanded empty net goal for a 6-3 final score.
