Boston College narrowly avoided a repeat of Friday night’s game tonight, defeating Providence 3-2 in overtime after giving up an early lead.
Much like Friday night, the Eagles scored seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. BC’s first goal tonight came off a great play from the first line that resulted in a goal from Gabe Perreault.
The Eagles took that 1-0 lead into intermission, before yet again giving up 2 goals in the first few minutes of the second period and going down 2-1. Luckily, BC kept it together tonight and didn’t get any farther into the hole, and late in the third period Ryan Leonard tied the game up at 2.
The game went into overtime after that, and BC won with 48 seconds on the clock as another Ryan Leonard shot slowly trickled past the goalie.
Jan Korec, who played in net tonight following Jacob Fowler’s one game suspension, made 24 saves in the victory.
