The Eagles struggled in their first Hockey East road game of the season, falling to UConn by a score of 5-4 tonight and allowing 46 shots on goal.
The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead despite being heavily outshot in the first. The goal was scored by Aidan Hreschuk, whose shot snuck through the UConn goalie’s pads to put BC on top.
The Huskies tied the game up seconds into the second period as a BC penalty expired, and then quickly took a 2-1 lead and then a 3-1 lead as the Eags struggled to get chances on net.
On the 3rd BC goal, Jacob Fowler was assessed a 5 minute major and game misconduct and Jan Korec took over in net. Korec played great, but it wasn’t enough to drive BC to a comeback.
Ryan Leonard cut UConn’s lead to 3-2 seconds into the third, but with just over 9 minutes to go in the game the Huskies took back the 2 goal lead.
With 3:37 to go BC pulled Korec, and with just over a minute to go Andre Gasseau cut the lead to 4-3. Unfortunately, UConn immediately followed that up with an empty net goal, but Hreschuk then scored his second of the game to make it a 5-4 Huskies final.
