Greg Brown lands some big commitments on the blue line
Greg Brown has gotten off to a fast start in the new recruiting cycle for the Boston College men’s hockey team, landing commitments from several highly ranted recruits over the course of just a few days at the start of the month. Five players have already committed to BC with all five looking like they could potentially be impact players when they join the Eagles in the next few years. Here’s a quick rundown on all five:
CALLUM CROSKERY
Croskery is a defenseman from Ontario, Canada who was the first player to commit to BC during this cycle. Croskery is among the top recruits in his class, and reportedly has a very well rounded game and he should have the chance to be the first real blue chip prospect that the Eagles have had on their blue line in a good few years. He is slated to play the upcoming season in the USHL with the Chicago Steel and is most likely at least a few years away from making his BC debut.
CASEY MUTRYN
In a class that currently seems more focused on defensemen, Mutryn appears to be the big name forward that the Eagles have landed. Mutryn scored 42 points in just 27 games while playing for St. Sebastian’s last season and will be joining the US National Team Development Program for the next few years. Mutryn’s brother, Teddy, is also a BC commit and his father, Scott, was a former BC quarterback.
RUDOLFS BERZKALNS
Berzkalns is a Latvian forward who has spent the past three seasons playing with the Bishop Kearney Selects. He was just under a point per game player in his time there, putting up 68 goals and 147 total points in 152 games during that time frame. Berzkalns will also be playing in the USHL in this upcoming season as a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
CAMERON CHARTRAND
Chartrand is a 4.5 star defenseman and another Canadian addition from Greg Brown. The Quebec native is a big time get for the Eagles, as he was listed as the 12th best prospect and fourth best defenseman in his class by Neutral Zone. He’s another player who reportedly has a very solid all around game and another future Eagle who looks like he will be spending some time in the USHL, having recently been drafted by the Cedar Rapid RoughRiders
SAM WATHIER
Sam Wathier is another addition on the blue line for BC. Wathier is a four-star recruit from Iowa and will be playing for the US National Under 17 team in the 2024-25 season. He had 14 points in 30 games for the Eastern Ontario Wild last season and reportedly improved his game quite a bit in order to move up the recruiting boards before landing with the Eagles.
