On Saturday evening, Boston College quarterback Emmett Morehead announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
I want to thank Boston College for the past three years. I appreciate all my teammates, coaches, friends and family that have supported me along the way. I will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility.

Morehead was a junior this season and was named as BC’s starting quarterback heading into Week 1, but back-up Thomas Castellanos took his place just part way into the first half against Northern Illinois and never looked back. Morehead rarely saw the field from there and it became clear rather quickly that the Boston College staff had chosen Castellanos over him despite the preseason expectations. So it should come as no surprise that Morehead wants to transfer out and find playing time elsewhere.
Morehead was a promising prospect as Phil Jurkovec’s back-up and he was thrust into the spotlight earlier than expected when Jurk went down with an injury towards the end of the 2022 season. Morehead never gave the starting position back to Jurk and, despite some struggles, he looked promising enough to make Eagles fans feel optimistic about the future. But with the addition of Thomas Castellanos to the roster in the offseason through the transfer portal, Morehead never really got a chance to show how he could’ve improved.
We wish Emmett all the best moving forward!
