Grayson James is the likely replacement
On Friday afternoon, news broke that Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos is OUT with an injury and won’t be playing against Western Kentucky on Saturday at 12:00pm. Sources close to BCI tell us that the injury isn’t serious or expected to be long-term.

This is obviously a big blow to the BC team to lose their leader on offense who can make so many plays happen with his legs. Transfer quarterback Grayson James is going to replace Castellanos under center on Saturday afternoon, who came into the program this offseason after three years at Florida International. At FIU, James played in 20 games, started 10 times, and threw for 2,349 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He isn’t much of a rusher though, topping out at 2.8 yards per attempt in 2022 and totaling 256 career rushing yards. But he’s an experienced signal caller that should be able to slot into the offense to keep it running well enough to have a good chance of victory against WKU.
Boston College came into this week being favored by almost two touchdowns against Western Kentucky, but that line has already started moving down since the rumors of Castellanos’s injury hit social media on Friday. Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien will have an opportunity here to coach up his team in extenuating circumstances to victory, which would be an important milestone for a program that has seen a lot of quarterback injuries over the past several years derail a season.
