The struggles continue for Boston College women’s basketball, as the Eagles lost to Kentucky by a score of 83-81 tonight. BC is now 3-5 overall, and the Eagles’ only wins have come against Holy Cross, Northeastern, and Providence.
The Eagles outscored the Wildcats in the first half, only to give up the lead as time wound down in the second. Both teams ended the game shooting 52% from the floor, and BC out-rebounded Kentucky 33-27. The difference tonight was essentially slightly more accurate 3 point shooting from Kentucky, and the fact that BC’s usually strong defense was outplayed: the Eagles forced 13 turnovers to Kentucky’s 16, made 3 blocks to Kentucky’s 5, and grabbed 5 steals to Kentucky’s 10.
Dontavia Waggoner was the standout for BC tonight, with 16 points and 7 rebounds. T’Yana Todd also scored 16 for the Eagles, and JoJo Lacey led the team with 9 assists and added 15 points. Lacey also hit a trio of 3 pointers.
The Eagles return home this weekend to face UMass Lowell on Sunday.
