These Eagles were the cream of the crop
On Tuesday, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced its selections to the All-ACC teams for 2024, and three Boston College players were selected for the First Team: Donovan Ezeiruaku at defensive end, Ozzy Trapilo at tackle, and Drew Kendall at center.
Ezeiruaku had a breakout year for BC and was well-rewarded by the media voters, garnering the most votes of any defensive player in the ACC, which could mean that he is a leading contender to win the ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Ezeiruaku led the entirety of FBS D1 football in sacks this season with 16.5. Ezeiruaku also led the ACC in tackles for loss with 21 and was top-5 in the conference in forcing fumbles. His presence on the defensive line was incredibly disruptive for opposing offenses and it directly led to big wins for BC over teams like Syracuse and North Carolina.
Trapilo and Kendall were the leaders of a terrific Boston College offensive line this season. Through their leadership, BC runningbacks Kye Robichaux, Treshaun Ward, and Jordan McDonald all had great seasons, and BC won some tough early season match-ups with a run-first quarterback in Thomas Castellanos. Boston College was the third-most efficient offense in the ACC in large part due to the great blocking execution by the offensive line, which allowed them to rack up time of possession and convert 3rd & 4th down situations at a good rate.
In addition to those three, Cam Horsley was selected to the All-ACC Third Team as a defensive tackle. All-ACC honorable mentions also included wide receiver Lewis Bond, guard Jack Conley, and guard Logan Taylor.
