On Wednesday, it was announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference that Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku has been voted the ACC Defensive Player of the Year for 2024.

Ezeiruaku led the entire NCAA FBS in sacks this season, finishing with 16.5 in a dominant performance that lasted all season. With top ACC numbers in tackles for loss and forced fumbles, too, he showed his excellence throughout the season in both getting after the quarterback and stuffing the run. It was in large part due to his efforts that the BC defense performed above their expectations and that first year head coach Bill O’Brien was able to lead Boston College to a 7-5 record. With his tenacious defense and leadership of the BC defensive line, the Eagles were able to beat some tough opponents and close out the end of the season on a winning streak.
Ezeiruaku follows in the footsteps of Mark Herzlich (2008) and Luke Kuechly (2011), the only other BC players to win this award.
