On Wednesday afternoon, On3’s Jamie Shaw reported that Boston College forward Elijah Strong has entered the transfer portal.
Strong was a three-star project coming out of Charlotte, NC in the 2023 class. The 6’8, 235 pound power forward saw limited playing time as a freshman, averaging 2.7 points, 0.7 boards and 0.2 assists in 19 games with 1 start. There were certainly some bright spots, however — he scored 14 points on 6-9 shooting in that lone start, and in the NIT first-round win over Providence, he logged an electric 10 points in 12 minutes. Strong began his sophomore season as the team’s starting power forward and scored a career-high 25 points against Temple. However, a mid-season illness allowed Roger McFarlane to take the starting 4 spot, which he held for the rest of the season. Strong averaged 9.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists this season while improving his efficiency to a 45.2% shooting percentage this season. We wish Elijah the best of luck moving forward in his career!
For the Eagles, this now leaves Grant with one power forward (incoming freshman Jack Bailey) and one center (Jayden Hastings) on the roster. Grant will need to revamp his frontcourt in the portal this season if he wants to get the program back on track.
