Akbar Waheed, the four-star shooting guard from Georgetown Prep, committed to Boston College on Tuesday.
Ranked the No. 25 shooting in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports.com, the four-star guard also considered Xavier, Florida State, Saint Louis and Iowa.
“Coach [Earl] Grant and his staff were with me from the jump since my freshman year,” he told 247. “I felt like they did a great job establishing an early relationship with me and I feel like we have a relationship I can trust and build upon. Our values were very aligned so that’s why I chose them.”
He is the son of former Georgetown and Boston College assistant Akbar Wakeed.
As for what he’ll bring to BC, he said: “I’m flexible. I’m a do-it-all type of guy, so I’ll do whatever they need me to do to win. They can put me out there to defend, if they want me to score I can do that, or even guard the other team’s best player. I’m out there to help win some games.”
