Providence transfer Makai Ashton-Langford has committed to Boston College, a source told ZAGSBLOG.
“We have a long term relationship with Coach [Scott] Spinelli,” DeMarr Langford said. “I played for him at Winchendon in the 90’s. Coach [Jim] Christian was really authentic about his expectations and his goals for BC and how Makai could fit right in.
“Makai will bring leadership, toughness, ball-handling, decision-making and with a year off to perfect that shot and see the game from the sidelines, the sky’s the limit to help to put BC back on the map nationally in a great conference.”
The 6-foot-3 Worcester, Mass., native and former UConn commit will sit one year to play two. He averaged 3.7 points and 2.3 assists last season.
“He loves the coaches, it’s close to home, it’s in the ACC and it’s a great school,” Mass Rivals coach Vin Pastore said. “He’s a true point guard who makes his teammates better and an elite defender and finisher at the rim.”
Boston College also previously landed USC grad transfer Derryck Thornton, who is eligible immediately and averaged 7.7 points and 4.3 assists.
