While flops are usually reviled by basketball purists, they’re at least funny sometimes and one North Carolina player managed to get away with a downright hilariously bad one.
During today’s game against Boston College, UNC guard Cormac Ryan tried defending against a Boston College player trying to push further into the paint. After lightly elbowing Ryan in the chest, Ryan decided to try and draw a charge by flopping backwards.
But Ryan might need to take a few classes at the UNC school of drama before trying that again because it was bad. He basically takes a full second after the last push before jerking himself backwards and throwing himself onto the ground.
It was so bad that the original publisher of the post on X burst out laughing at the sight of it.
Fans thought it was wild too:

“We need to get this type of dirty play out of college basketball. Prayers for Cormac Ryan,” one user wrote.
“He has the right to do that. That’s perfect defense,” a UNC fan replied.
“If you look closely he stepped on his shoe but the hands were a little much,” a third conceded.
Cormac Ryan should probably get flopping lessons before trying that again.
