Home opener! Tailgating time!
On Saturday afternoon, the Boston College football team will have their home opener in the first year of the Bill O’Brien era, as they take on Duquesne of the NEC. The Eagles had a very impressive win over Florida State down in Tallahassee in Week 1, and they are heavily favored to beat the Dukes on Saturday, but we all know what happened against Holy Cross last year… let’s hope it doesn’t get as close this weekend as it did then.
Who: Boston College Eagles (1-0) vs Duquesne Dukes (0-1)
Where: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA
When: Saturday September 7th, 2024
Kickoff Time: 3:30pm ET
How to Watch: This game will be broadcasted live on ACCNX and streamed online here
Click here for an overview of the Duquesne team this year. I’m not expecting them to be much of a threat to win on Saturday, but you never know.
Our staff has spent this week compiling some great BC football content after their big win over Florida State. Take a look:

What to Watch For
- Jacobe Robinson playing time? The redshirt freshman QB out of Texas may be the future of the Boston College program once we lose Thomas Castellanos. I’m curious to finally see him in action in a real game.
- The gold out. BC football has been promoting a “gold out” for this game, after they reintroduced gold SuperFan shirts to the freshman class this year. Will the students actually show up wearing gold? Who knows! I know I’ll be wearing mine as the old man in the stands next to the Band.
Tailgate Treat of the Week
It’s tailgating time! I, for one, am excited to get back to it on Saturday afternoon. There’s nothing like seeing old friends, eating good food, drinking good beer, and maybe playing a little cornhole as the team and BC Marching Band walk on by. Personally, I always like to bring something a little fruity to the tailgate to mix things up, so today I’ll recommend the Party Jam Blueberry from Hermit Thrush Brewery in Brattleboro, VT.
Prediction: Boston College 69 Duquesne 0
Nice. Duquesne is an FCS team and lost last week 49-10 to Toledo. Even though BC is playing on a short week, I have no doubt they’ll take care of business on Saturday afternoon.
