Can the Eagles get a win?
On Friday night in Chestnut Hill, Boston College football will look to put an end to their losing streak when they take on the Louisville Cardinals. BC has dropped two straight games to ACC opponents after starting the season 4-1, and have been a bit of an inconsistent mess on both sides of the ball. Louisville, meanwhile, is coming off of a close 52-45 loss to #6 Miami. Both teams will be looking to get their seasons a bit back on track at this weeknight match-up.

What to Watch For
- Control time of possession as much as possible. This Louisville offense is no joke. They’re #12 in the nation in yards per play and just racked up 45 points on the #6 team in the country. BC needs to limit Losuiville’s offensive opportunities as much as possible, and they can do that by trusting their running game and getting a push in the trenches. Bill O’Brien’s offense has moved away from that strategy in recent weeks, after it worked well against some earlier opponents.
- Tommy, please stop turning the ball over. Thomas Castellanos is clearly the best option that BC has at quarterback this season, and he’s a very talented player who has had some really impressive performances. But last week versus Virginia Tech was not one of them. Multiple fumbles put BC in a hole early in that game, one that they couldn’t climb out of. TC needs to bring things back to basics: securing the football and simply taking what the defense gives you.
- BC’s secondary has a tall task this week. Louisville’s passing offense is quite a formidable opponent. Given how weak the secondary has been throughout the season, and with added loss of Amari Jackson a couple weeks ago, my hopes are not high in BC’s ability to slow down the Cardinals.
Prediction: Louisville 42 Boston College 24
BC is in a slump right now, and Louisville is not the opponent that can help them break out of it. They match-up really well against BC and will likely claim an early lead that they won’t relinquish for the remainder of the game. I’m hoping I’m wrong, but this is a pretty tough part of BC’s schedule.
