Boston College Football vs Syracuse: Orange Offense
What to Watch For
- Mix up the offense. Whatever BC has been doing on offense in recent weeks has not been working. Even against Louisville last week when they got out to an early lead, it was mostly thanks to a couple of gadget plays or chunk yardage from Treshaun Ward, not due to a consistent march down the field. BC needs to get their wide receivers more involved and they need to simplify things for Thomas Castellanos.
- Keep winning the turnover battle. Despite the loss, BC did a great job of winning the turnover battle against Louisville in their last game, a marked improvement from previous weeks that allowed them to stay competitive. Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord is certainly a talented player, but he has at times shown an ability to make a lot of mistakes, like his five-interception game against Pitt a couple of weeks ago.
Prediction: Syracuse 31 Boston College 14
It was good to see BC clean up their turnovers against Louisville, but this offense still has a long way to go before I’m ready to pick them to win again. Syracuse clearly knows what it’s doing on the offensive side of the ball and should be able to pick apart the BC secondary. The Orange defense is weak, so maybe Castellanos and crew can start to figure some things out, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with their opponents from Western New York.
