What to Watch For
- The Boston College defensive line is officially a force to be reckoned with. They looked really impressive in the second half of the game against Western Kentucky, and Donovan Ezeiruaku made the game-changing strip sack that allowed BC to come away with a win. It’s a big improvement from last year and is quickly becoming one of the team’s biggest strengths.
- Thomas Castellanos is back! After missing the game against WKU, Castellanos has returned from his undisclosed injury and will be at the helm as BC enters their ACC schedule. He allows the Boston College offense to really work at its best with his ability to improvise on broken plays and scramble for big gains. It helps them gain yards and it really opens up a ton of space for his RBs and WRs down the field, too.
- Tommy needs to sling it. UVA is bringing a lot of pressure to the quarterback this season, regularly sending linebackers and safeties on blitzes. Castellanos needs to get the ball out of his hands fast, to Lewis Bond especially, if BC is going to be successful in this game.
Tailgate Treat of the Week
BC isn’t at home this week, so I’ve got to go with the best set-up to watch this game on your couch on Saturday afternoon. And for that, I’m going with a nice and easy Allagash North Sky. This is a truly great stout to sip slowly while you sit back and enjoy some fall football.
Prediction: Boston College 20 Virginia 17
UVA’s offense could really deal some punches to BC’s secondary in this game. But Ezeiruaku and the defensive line will be exerting heavy pressure on Cavs quarterback Anthony Colandrea, and I don’t think their OL will hold for long. Meanwhile, with Castellanos back, BC will be able to dominate in the run game and keep this to a somewhat low-scoring affair that they once again remarkably win at the end. Roll Eags!
