Bills
Buffalo traded WR Stefon Diggs to Houston this offseason after four tremendous seasons with the Bills. Buffalo QB Josh Allen knows they will miss Diggs’ presence but stated his confidence in their current group.
“I think Stef’s a great player, and what he brought to this team was special,” Allen said, via the team’s website. “So, ‘miss’ is, I don’t know if I’d say ‘miss,’ he was a guy that was reliable, you could look to. He’s going to have the juice each and every day — I’m sure he’s bringing it over there in Houston. So definitely, you can’t say that you don’t miss that. But I am very happy with what we have going on here and how hard the guys have been working.”
“I’m very comfortable with the guys that we’ve brought in. It’s no secret, Stef was an All-Pro here. He’s got the stats to back it up, each year he had 100-plus catches and 1,000-plus yards. That’s a heavy workload for someone to come in and fill those shoes.”
Jets
The Jets signed WR Mike Williams this offseason after he was let go by the Chargers for salary cap purposes. Williams was recently activated off the PUP list after his torn ACL last year and HC Robert Saleh feels he’s progressing ahead of expectations.
“The good news is, obviously he’s a lot further ahead than we anticipated,” Saleh said, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “If I’m not mistaken, he was out at individual and some route running stuff early, so that’s going to kind of be his progression. He’ll be involved in all the walk-throughs, individual, routes on air, so for the next week or two, that’s about the extent of what we’ll see unless he starts feeling good, but we’ll anticipate him getting back into team work maybe a couple weeks from now.”
Patriots
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson said he loves the running scheme and believes he’s set up for a career year. New OC Alex Van Pelt is installing an outside zone scheme that he’s bringing over from Cleveland.
“Yeah, it could benefit any running back. It’s my favorite scheme, to be honest with you,” Stevenson said, via Mass Live. “Outside zones, that’s what I like and that’s what we’re running. Everybody else in our room seems to like it as well. We’ll see what we can do.”
“Outside zone, you see everything a lot better,” Stevenson added. “The o-line still has to work very, very hard and you have to be on your tracks, but it’s kind of you hit what you see. You make your cut when you think you’re ready and it’s ultimately up to you.”
