Dolphins
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said they must figure out how to “re-establish” their offensive line after suffering too many turnovers and hits to the quarterback.
“I think when you start to get, when your line of scrimmage is violated to the point that you have some turnover football, that you have some hits on the quarterback and you’re not able to stay on the field as long as you want, you have to figure out a way to re-establish the line of scrimmage,” McDaniel said, via Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. “And that problem is not going anywhere until we solve it.”
McDaniel mentioned how their offensive line has severely struggled at the point of attack and engaging defenders.
“Last game, I thought we weren’t nearly where we need to be at the point of attack, how to engage blocks, our leverages, and stay attached to players,” McDaniel said. “And then I think we have guys pressing so that when we do have an advantage on the defense, we’re getting holding calls left and right, probably threefold to what we had last year.”
Jets
- It was reported Jets owner Woody Johnson shot down a possible trade to acquire WR Jerry Jeudy when he was with the Broncos because of his rating on Madden, the video game. Brian Costello, citing several sources, reports Johnson did bring up Madden ratings but it was not what ultimately ended the trade.
- Costello writes New York offered a fourth-round pick for WR Allen Lazard, but Denver refused because they did not want Lazard.
Patriots
- Patriots fourth-round WR Javon Baker said he suffered his concussion in a car accident last week, via Doug Kyed.
- Baker called it a “bad” car accident and feels “blessed” to only walk away with a concussion.
- Former Patriots and North Carolina’s new HC Bill Belichick reflected on the state of the Patriots, bringing up how New England’s defense is in the bottom half of nearly every category: “Yeah, they’re in the bottom half of almost every defensive category. So that’s it’s own issue. And the kicking’s been inconsistent, as well, both kicking and punting. So, where (Drake) Maye is or isn’t — certainly a good guy to work with but he’s got a lot of work to do too. We’ll see what the direction of this program, where that goes, with (Eliot) Wolf, with (Jerod) Mayo, or maybe somebody else is part of this too. I don’t know.” (Doug Kyed)
