Former New England Patriots safeties coach Brian Belichick will be joining his father Bill Belichick after accepting a job on the North Carolina coaching staff.
This was reported by Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
Brian will coach the safeties position, which is the same role he had with the Patriots. It’s a role he held from 2020-2024 under both Bill and former Patriots coach Jerod Mayo.
Many speculated it would be another Belichick reunion at Chapel Hill after it was reported that Brian wouldn’t be returning to New England. Now, it’s official with Brian and Steve Belichick both taking their talents to North Carolina.

Belichick spent the last nine years with the Patriots, including the last five as safeties coach. Highly respected around the New England building.https://t.co/qOetA1iLiU pic.twitter.com/q8aej46358

The North Carolina coaching staff will have plenty of familiar faces, including former Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins. Bill is leaning on trusted figures from the past in hopes of creating a better future for the Tar Heels in 2025 and beyond.
