Bailey Zappe seems to be in line to be the Patriots starter moving forward but the second-year QB stopped just short of confirming so at Tuesday’s press conference.
Zappe took over for Mac Jones in the second half of Week 12’s game and got the nod in Sunday’s 6-0 loss to the Chargers.
The former fourth-round pick revealed to reporters that Bill Belichick has made his choice clear when it comes to the team’s quarterback but ultimately deferred to his coach when asked about it.

“Coach has made it pretty clear, but I’ll let him announce it to everybody. That’s private right now, but whenever he announces it that’s with him,” Zappe told NBC Sports Boston.
Jones remains active and figures to be the Pats’ primary backup if Zappe were to get another start.
Former Louisville star Malik Cunningham was also elevated from New England’s practice squad ahead of Week 13.
