Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick continued his round of hot takes involving his former team when appearing on Underdog Fantasy’s “Coach with Bill Belichick” podcast.
Belichick broke down the sad state of the Patriots’ offensive line, along with slipping another Jerod Mayo zinger into the discussion with talk of the team being “soft.” The legendary coach was joined by former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and assistant to the coaching staff Michael Lombardi.
“It’s Jets week, but boy, the Patriots got a lot of questions to answer between the head coach, the atmosphere, who’s soft and who’s not soft and so forth,” said Belichick. “…The Patriots can’t even get the same five guys on the field [on the offensive line]. That’s been an issue whether [Mike] Onwenu is playing guard or tackle. Two guys they signed in the offseason aren’t even on the team anymore. So it’s been a little bit of a musical chairs.”

Lombardi added: “When you ride bicycles in the locker room, I don’t know how you can pretend you’re not soft.”
Belichick had been quiet with his criticisms of the Patriots, but one has to wonder if recent incidents with the team irked him enough to start speaking out.
There was “The Dynasty: New England Patriots” documentary that depicted Belichick in a negative light, and owner Robert Kraft went on “The Breakfast Club” podcast and recently admitted to firing Belichick, despite the split being initially presented as a mutual parting of ways.
The gloves are starting to come off, and Patriots fans can only hope it doesn’t get any uglier between Belichick and Kraft.
