Bill Belichick’s quarterback room took a hit this Tuesday when the Ravens signed Malik Cunningham off the Patriots’ practice squad.
On Wednesday morning, Belichick was asked if the Patriots tried to keep Cunningham from going to the Ravens.
“Yeah,” Belichick replied, via NESN. “But I think, at the end of the day, they sold him on the opportunity, the offense; he had Lamar (Jackson). Certainly, their offense suits Malik better than probably any other offense in the league does, so it makes sense.”
Cunningham, a former Music City Bowl MVP, was teammates with Jackson in 2017.

Cunningham joined the Patriots after racking up 9,664 passing yards and 3,184 rushing yards at Louisville. Although he has a lot of potential, he never received the chance to make a legit impact for New England.
Maybe the Ravens will find a way to incorporate Cunningham’s unique skillset into their offense later this season.
