LeGarrette Blount Jr., son of two-time New England Patriots Super Bowl champion LeGarrette Blount, announced he has been offered a Division I scholarship to play for coach Bill Belichick at North Carolina.
Blount Sr. won two Super Bowls under Belichick while serving as the Patriots’ power running back. His best season came in 2016 when he racked up 1,161 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.
The focus now is on Blount Jr., who could play under Belichick as well if he commits to signing with North Carolina. He also has an offer from Marshall sitting on the table currently.
Belichick is working to get the North Carolina program back to its winning ways. That includes rebuilding the coaching staff and front office, while also filling out the roster.
Blount Jr. is only a freshman at Hamilton High School with a 2028 graduation date. He currently plays at both wide receiver and defensive back for the school.
His list of scholarship opportunities could grow as he works through his high school career, but it’s certainly worth noting that North Carolina was one of the first schools to give him an offer.
