Both served as standard elevations Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
Interior lineman Bryan Hudson and outside linebacker Ochaun Mathis reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Monday.
The pair served as standard elevations for what became a 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins the afternoon prior.
Hudson, 23, was active yet did not take the field at Gillette Stadium. The 6-foot-5, 301-pound undrafted rookie signed to the practice squad at its formation after spending training camp with the Detroit Lions. He had been waived at the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline in August. The product of Virginia Tech and Louisville appeared in 60 games during his collegiate career, totaling 41 starts between center, guard and tackle.
Mathis, 25, played 11 snaps in the kicking game on Sunday after joining New England’s practice squad in August. Entering the league with the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2023 draft at No. 250 overall, Mathis appeared in eight contests during his rookie season in the NFC West. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge defender by way of Texas Christian and Nebraska finished with two tackles across 74 snaps on defense and 19 snaps on special teams.
Two elevations remain for both call-ups under NFL rules.
And at 1-4, the Patriots move forward with an opening on the practice squad after signing defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy to the active roster on the eve of the AFC East matchup. His debut included four tackles and one sack.
The Houston Texans visit Foxborough next Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
