All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez likes being a member of the New England Patriots despite back-to-back losing seasons.
The team has only won eight games in the two years he’s been with the organization, but he remains focused on the positive, which is an opportunity to be a part of the turnaround in New England.
“It’s just the pedigree of the Patriots. Just the history—the winning,” Gonzalez said on the “Gruden Goes Long” podcast when asked what he liked about being a Patriot. “That’s kinda how it is. We gotta get back to it. We’ve been off these past two years, but hopefully, we get back to being who we are.”
The Patriots had a nearly 20-year stretch of success with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, which included 19 consecutive winning seasons and six Super Bowl wins. They also had 17 straight seasons of at least 10 wins.
Gonzalez will play a pivotal role in getting the Patriots back to their winning ways. He has had an outstanding start to his career, making an All-Pro team in his second season.
Despite being one of the few stars on a rebuilding team, Gonzalez does not appear to be frustrated. He has a healthy mindset heading into one of the most important offseasons in franchise history.
