The New England Patriots could wind up looking for a new person to run the personnel department in 2024. But amid rumors that Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio and former Patriots executive Nick Caserio is a candidate, Dianna Russini is pouring cold water on the idea.
In a recent feature for The Athletic, Russini refuted the rumors that Caserio might leave his current job to become the general manager of the Patriots. Per the report, Caserio is happy where he is and is eager to work with the team now that they appear to have stability.
“There has been chatter for months that if the Patriots part ways with Belichick, Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio, a former longtime member of the personnel brain trust in New England, would want an opportunity to return to the Patriots as their general manager. But based on my conversations with league sources, Houston is where the 48-year-old wants to be,” Russini wrote, via John Crumpler.
NFL fans agree with Russini that it wouldn’t make sense for Caserio to leave his job in Houston right now:
The Athletic’s @DMRussini reports that she has found no truth to rumors of Houston GM Nick Caserio looking to return to New England.

“Leaving Houston after hitting on franchise cornerstones on both sides of the ball would be insane. The hardest part of his job is over,” one user noted.
“Lol these rumors are such garbage. Not a single chance he leaves for NE. No solid cornerstones in NE and he has all 3 here in Houston, QB/HC and Defensive player,” wrote another.
“Job stability. In NE, if he doesn’t hit on his picks he will be fired with the next staff. He already has the pieces in place here for long time success. Would make zero sense to leave. (Unless he just wants to live in Boston),” a third wrote.
Who do you think the Patriots will wind up hiring?
