New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye recalled his “welcome to the NFL moment” when appearing on “Green Light with Chris Long.”
The moment occurred when the Patriots took on the Houston Texans in the quarterback’s first start. Maye impressed in that game by going 20-of-33 passing for 243 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against a talented Texans defense.
The Texans’ defensive line managed to get multiple hits on the 22-year-old quarterback, but one play that especially stuck with Maye was the strip sack fumble caused by defensive end Danielle Hunter.
“I saw him at the Pro Bowl as well, man,” said Maye. “I told him, man, I said, ‘That was kind of my welcome to the NFL. That was my moment.’”
Danielle Hunter absolutely MUSHES Drake Maye for the strip sack. He strips the ball with his CHEST!!!

Maye got thrown into the fire quickly with the Patriots needing a spark at the quarterback position. With that said, the former North Carolina standout offered Patriots fans a positive glimpse into the future.
There’s hope that he can bring stability and success to the quarterback position for a team that desperately needs it.
