Could Bill Belichick coach the Philadelphia Eagles next season? That idea was mentioned by FS1’s Nick Wright this week.
The Eagles are currently committed to Nick Sirianni at head coach, but that could change if they lose to the Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
For the sake of this exercise, let’s say the Eagles fire Sirianni this offseason. That would make Philadelphia a very attractive landing spot for Belichick. At least that’s what Wright thinks.
Not only would Belichick have a lot of talent to work with on the defensive line, he wouldn’t have to worry about drafting wide receivers. The Eagles have two excellent weapons at that position in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
“If they lose to Tampa and they fire him, isn’t that the perfect spot for Belichick? All that talent on defense. The offensive skill position guys are already there,” Wright said. “It’s like, the offense is in place. The defense has all this blue chip talent up front, and Belichick has been getting the most out of secondary players and linebackers for 20 years. Cold weather, northeastern city with a blue chip franchise, chance to break Shula’s record, chance to get to the Super Bowl. That to me is a hand in glove fit.”

Philadelphia would be an interesting destination for Belichick, there’s no doubt about it. We’re just not sure if the front office is willing to move on from Sirianni so soon.
What we do know, however, is that Belichick wants to continue coaching next season.
