The New England Patriots have struggled at quarterback this season, whether Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe was playing the position.
The Pats also had a third QB on their roster at various points: undrafted free agent Malik Cunningham. Cunningham, a former Louisville star, played in only one game and did not attempt a pass, spending most of his time on New England’s practice squad.
The Baltimore Ravens signed Cunningham off the Patriots’ taxi squad to their active roster last week, prompting New England offensive tackle Trent Brown to imply that the Pats didn’t “respect” Cunningham’s talent.
On Wednesday, A to Z Sports’ Sophie Weller asked Brown directly if he felt Cunningham was should have gotten a chance to play meaningful snaps for New England this year.
“Absolutely. Everybody on the team did,” Brown said.
After Malik Cunningham was signed by the Ravens, Trent Brown sent a strong message on social media.
Today, he spoke with me exclusively about the post.
Do you feel the that Malik Cunningham should have gotten a chance this season?

Cunningham has yet to get a shot to play in Baltimore, but perhaps felt like he would have more of a chance to make his mark with the Ravens than the Patriots.
“But I think, at the end of the day, they sold him on the opportunity, the offense; he had Lamar (Jackson). Certainly, their offense suits Malik better than probably any other offense in the league does, so it makes sense,” New England head coach Bill Belichick said last week.
Zappe and Jones have combined for 2,839 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 14 games so far this year.
